Join AASLD Liver Capitol Hill Day
MARCH 16 IN DC: WHY WOULD YOU BE ANYWHERE ELSE?
The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable is lending its assistance to the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) , to include patients and patient advocacy organizations in their second annual Liver Capitol Hill Day on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
For those arriving on March 15th, AASLD is planning a dinner with a guest speaker either from Capitol Hill or from the Obama administration. The day of the 16th will begin with a morning breakfast briefing designed to acquaint AASLD members and their guests with the important public policy issues facing liver disease research and services, as well as to raise participants' comfort level with discussing these issues on Capitol Hill.
Small teams of physicians, patients and advocates will then have the opportunity to participate in meetings that will be scheduled for you by AASLD's government relations team. We hope that every participating member will have the opportunity to visit at least their two senators' offices, as well as their representative.
While this event includes AASLD's advocacy for all liver disease, NVHR member participation will help to ensure great representation for viral hepatitis issues. Help us to support AASLD for this important event! To participate, please RSVP as soon as possible but not later than February 15, 2010 to Mimi Schott (mschott@nvhr.org). We will pass on your information to AASLD so that they may include you in their scheduling. Please let us know who your representatives are or your address when responding. Unfortunately, NVHR does not have funding to support travel to this event.
